Qantas Minor Policy Booking Restrictions

Qantas’s online booking system, “Manage My Booking,” does not allow children under 18 to book foreign flights alone. Booking a minor service at the airport at least four hours before departure is required.  When booking a reservation for a child, an adult must be present.

  • Your itinerary may include an overnight layover or the final flight of the day.
  • Within a single city, connecting flights depart from multiple airports.
  • There is a Qantas flight listed that will not operate. These flights can only be reserved directly with the airline operating them.
  • By connecting flight mode, you cannot get from one destination to another in less than four hours.
  • In order to bring medication, your child must have the following skills and knowledge: a letter of prescription from their doctor.

The Qantas Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Important Information for Parents and Guardians

While a youngster is in Qantas’ care, the airline must be able to reach the child’s parents or legal guardians via phone at all times. In addition –

  • An airline can turn over an unaccompanied child to the authorities if the person who is supposed to pick them up is not at the gate.
  • When traveling internationally without an adult, children must check in at the airport at least two hours before departure.
  • Check-in must be completed at least one hour before departure on domestic flights within Australia.

  • Minors traveling alone without proper documentation may be rebooked onto the next available flight by Qantas.
